Action: Animation
ACTION: ANIMATION is a new series of educational workshops for children, during which we show and talk about various techniques of creating animated films. It is a joint project of the Poznań branch of Polish Television, the Polish Film Institute and the TV Studio of Animated Films. Our goal is to promote valuable Polish animation, creatively engaging children from small towns, as well as to popularize creative spending time by the youngest. All the films we show in this series were co-financed by the Polish Film Institute or co-financed by Polish Television. The opening of the first edition of the workshop was attended by: Jan Józefowski – Director of the TVP Branch in Poznań, Daniel Witowski – Spokesperson of the Polish Film Institute and Ewa Sobolewska – President of the TVSFA Management Board.
The workshops on the part of TVSFA are attended by: Ewa Sobolewska – producer, Ewelina Stefańska – director, Janusz Gałązkowski – animator, Ewa Rodewald – animator, Anna Gałązkowska – editor, with whom an excellent team of producers of the Field Center of Polish Television S.A. in Poznań cooperates, thanks to which children learn not only about the magic of animated films, but also about the magic and backstage of a television studio.

ACTION: ANIMATION, MEETING #3
On Wednesday, November 5, 2025, on the Day of Fairy Tale Characters, at 11.00 a.m., we met with children from the Primary School in Pigłowice, a town located in the Wielkopolska Voivodeship, in the Średz County, in the municipality of Zaniemyśl. 63 children from grades 1-3 took part in the workshops.
Young viewers learned the technique of drawing animation, puppet animation, painting animation with oil paints on canvas, animation in loose materials and saw animated films made by the Poznań Studio.

ACTION: ANIMATION, MEETING #2
On Friday, October 3, 2025, at 11.00 a.m., we met with children from the Primary School in Kwilicz, a town located in the Wielkopolska Voivodeship, in the Międzychod County, in the Kwilcz commune. 50 children from grades 1-3 took part in the workshops.
Young viewers learned the technique of drawing animation, puppet animation, painting animation with oil paints on canvas, animation in loose materials and saw animated films made by the Poznań Studio.

ACTION: ANIMATION, MEETING #1
On Friday, September 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., the first educational workshops for children from those towns in Wielkopolska where young viewers do not have the opportunity to watch films in the cinema took place in the TVP3 Poznań film studio. On that day, we met with children from the Primary School in Jędrzejewo, a town located in the Wielkopolska Voivodeship, in the Czarnków-Trzcianecki County, in the Czarnków Commune, came to us. 50 children from grades 1-3 took part in the workshops.
Young viewers learned the technique of drawing animation, puppet animation, painting animation with oil paints on canvas, animation in loose materials and saw animated films made by the Poznań Studio.
The film WIELKIE ZMARTWIENIE based on Leszek Kołakowski’s fairy tale “Who Would Like to Console One Unlucky Rhino?”, directed by Zbigniew Kotecki. We will show the children the dolls from the film and tell them how they were brought to life by the animators.
The film LEN based on Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale, directed by Joanna Jasińska Koronkiewicz, painted by the author with oil paints on canvas directly under the camera.
The film MAŁPA W KĄPIELI based on the motifs of a poem by Aleksander Fredro, which was made by Andrzej Gosieniecki in the classic drawing animation technique in the “Polish Fairy Tales” series, season 3.
FRAMEWORK PROGRAM OF THE WORKSHOP:
* A brief history and definition of film; basic types of films: feature film, documentary, animation (brief description); how the film is constructed, basic concepts, the language of the film, the definition of film sets, frame, shot, scene, sequence, here: a presentation of the conceptual structure of the film from the script through artistic projects to the picture script. Here is also a discussion of film professions, their specifics and the role of individual authors in the creation of a film.
* Presentation of the subsequent stages of making animated films:
* The stage of animation – how drawings, puppets, objects are “brought to life” – a demonstration of animation from the layout, through the main animation, animation and chamfering. The animator demonstrates the workshop, creates successive phases of movement in front of the participants, introduces them to animation techniques: drawing, cut-out, puppet, animation in loose matter, painting animation, computer animation.
* The stage of making film graphics (painting, animation) and making decorations – a demonstration of various techniques of making utility phases and film decorations.
* The stage of taking photos for an animated film – how to make photos for films, presentation of shooting techniques from a 35 mm time-lapse camera to computer programs.
* The stage of post-production of image and sound.
* The stage of film editing – what is the editing of the film; A demonstration of image and sound editing.
* Sound stage – the role of sound in the film; word, sound effects, music and sound and image harmony.
* The workshop module and the selection of films are adapted to the age group of the participants. Each set contains films from different genres (e.g. fairy tale, parable, impression) made in the presented animation techniques, so that the workshop participants get to know films in different styles of film narration.
* The screening of films is preceded by a lecture that refers to the knowledge gained by the workshop participants, consolidates it, directs the reception, presents the creators and their artistic achievements.
* At each stage of the workshops, participants take an active part, e.g. by answering the teacher’s questions or directly participating in the demonstration of techniques.
