Red patch
Film from the “Fourteen Tales from Lailonia Kingdom by Leszek Kołakowski” series, based on the philosophical parables „Tales from Lailonia Kingdom for the Big and Small” by Leszek Kołakowski.
Etam, a young man from a small town in Lailonia has picked up pears for his girlfriend Nita from his neighbour’s pear-tree.
He is punished for the theft: a red patch appears on his trousers. The patch is contagious. Red patches come out on the trousers of all Etam’s friends. The patches grow bigger and bigger and soon instead of trousers, the lads are wearing large red patches. When they come to school, the teacher cannot see their trousers – he can only see red patches. He tells the boys not to come to school until they put on their trousers. Encouraged by Nita, the lads make holes in their red patches and put on them real colourful patches. To their surprise, the teacher accepts their patched trousers. He explains that on the previous day they were wearing read patches, now they are wearing patched trousers. You may patch your trousers, but you may not patch patches.
