Stories from the Sandbox, season 2
STORIES FROM THE SANDBOX, season 2
13 episodes x 05:00 min
IN PRODUCTION
The series is an original adaptation of Renata Piątkowska’s book of the same title. It consists of another 13 episodes from the life of five-year-old Tommy, interpreted from his point of view and in the ‘author’s’ narration. Tommy describes his relationships with the environment and the things happening around him, seen in his own childish, still naïve way, but not devoid of childish thoughts. The author uses every, even seemingly trivial topic for philosophical considerations – because little Tommyis a bit of a ‘hollow-minded thinker’. The humour of these stories is as if unintentional and results from the child’s nature, contrarian and curious.
Children find the world seen through their eyes, and adults can remember what it looks like. Tommy, as well as his peers, obviously perceive the problems that arise at the junction of these two worlds in a completely different way – the world of children, with their imagination, and the world of adults with their pragmatism.
Each adventure of Tommy begins with the sentence “How I like…” or “How I don’t like…”. So Tommy likes teddy bears and tigers, he likes to play football, he likes to get gifts, he likes to carry things in his pockets, he likes to go for walks with his mom, he likes to draw. Tommy doesn’t like when the kindergarten lady gets angry, when Dad goes to training, he also doesn’t like to ride in the elevator, and he doesn’t like when mom doesn’t have time for him. For Tommy and his peers, every day is the beginning of a new, unforgettable adventure. A day full of excitement, which adults do not notice and often do not understand.
We have chosen another 13, in our opinion, witty and wisely funny stories by Tommy. Peers will have the opportunity to confront them with their own childhood dilemmas, so similar at this age, and adults will certainly find familiar situations experienced with their own children.
THE MAIN CHARACTER OF THE SERIES – TOMMY
Tommy is a preschooler, smart, curious about the world and disarming. The question does not leave his lips: Why? Little hands never get bored, and every day reinforces his belief that there are a lot of things in the world that adults will never understand. Tommy, in a way typical of preschoolers, discovers and explains the world to himself. With undisturbed serenity, he faces everything that the day brings. His sense of humour, funny situations in which he is constantly entangled, make adults smile, and children following his adventures react very spontaneously.
