Lack – Sudan International Animation Film Festival – Apedemak Brazil Tour

Paweł Prewencki’s auteur film LACK is being featured in special screenings in São Paulo, Brazil.
Below, we share a moving invitation letter from the organizers of the Sudan International Animation Film Festival – Apedemak:

Dear Pawel Prewencki,

Warm greetings from the Sudan International Animation Film Festival – Apedemak.

It is our great pleasure and honor to congratulate you on the selection of your film Lack for the second screening of the film as part of the Sudan International Animation Film Festival – Apedemak Brazil Tour in São Paulo, Brazil, in November 2026.

This screening represents a new international milestone in the journey of your film within the Apedemak programme, following its participation in the festival’s fourth edition. We are delighted to continue celebrating your work by taking it to a new audience, in one of Brazil’s most important cultural, artistic, and academic cities.

The São Paulo Tour is conceived as a cultural and artistic extension of the festival’s fourth edition. It aims to re-present a selection of films from the edition’s programme to a new Brazilian audience, while creating opportunities for dialogue and exchange between Sudanese, Arab, African, and international creative experiences on one side, and Brazilian audiences, universities, and cultural and cinematic institutions on the other.

The screening will take place at a prestigious university in São Paulo, as part of a cultural and artistic programme presenting the creative and human dimensions of Apedemak and the films selected for the tour, giving them an opportunity to reach audiences beyond their usual screening circles.

On this occasion, we are also pleased to present you with the special Laurel Wreath of the Apedemak Brazil Tour – São Paulo 2026, created as a symbolic recognition of this new chapter in your film’s international journey.

You are welcome to add this wreath to the series of Apedemak Laurel Wreaths accompanying your film throughout its international screening journey. Together, these wreaths can become a simple visual record of the film’s path and of the different cities and cultural spaces through which it travels.

For us, this wreath is more than a celebratory symbol. It is an expression of our appreciation for the film and its creators, and of our happiness that the work is becoming part of the cultural journey Apedemak is building between Sudan and the wider world.

At the same time, we would like to reaffirm our full respect for all intellectual property, screening, and exhibition rights belonging to the film and its creators. The participation of the film in this tour does not involve any transfer or waiver of rights. The screening will not be recorded, the film will not be published or made available online, and its use will remain strictly limited to the announced cultural screening within the Apedemak São Paulo Tour, with the rights of the director and filmmakers fully respected and protected.

Through this initiative, we hope to establish a lasting cultural tradition, with the Apedemak Brazil Tour becoming an annual international cultural event following the festival’s main edition in April each year. Our vision is for it to serve as a continuing window onto Sudanese, African, and international animation, while building long-term relationships with Brazilian universities, cultural and artistic institutions, and audiences.

São Paulo was chosen for its remarkable cultural, artistic, and academic significance, as well as for its openness to diverse cinematic and animation experiences and its potential to create meaningful dialogue around them. We are delighted that your film will be one of the works representing Apedemak to this audience.
We believe that every new screening offers a film a new opportunity to be discovered, and every new city it reaches becomes another chapter in its journey. For this reason, we see your film arriving in São Paulo not simply as another screening, but as a new milestone in its international journey—one that we are proud and happy to celebrate with you.

Once again, congratulations, and thank you for your trust in the Sudan International Animation Film Festival – Apedemak, and for contributing your work to this artistic and cultural journey.

With our sincere appreciation and respect,
Ibrahim Sayed
