The Warsaw Mermaid [pl. Warszawska Srenka] …or a tale showing that the love of freedom is most important in life, and that an attempt to take it away will be met by a just punishment… An inquisitive little Mermaid swims up river, deep into an unknown land. A quiet bend of the River Vistula gives her a safe haven and the fish and crayfish become her new friends. The Mermaid often sings and her beautiful voice enchants Szymek, a local fisherman. But then he finds out with astonishment that his Father and brother have captured the Mermaid intending to sell her to the Prince…
