Susana and Water Sprites
A long, long time ago or maybe not that long… Far, far away or maybe quite near… poor Susana had to become a servant to a greedy Gazda. Every day, from dawn to dusk, she had to look after the geese and a cow, receiving in return just a slice of bread and a roof over her head.
One day she saw a Frog who was too weak to reach water. Susana carried it to the river. To her astonishment, the Frog soon re-emerged from under the surface as the King of Water Sprites and invited her to his underwater kingdom. He wanted to reward her for her help, but Susana asked only for the river to stop flooding the near-by fields and meadows. When Susanka returned to her hut, it turned out that the Water Sprites had given her gold. The greedy Gazda forced Susana to tell him where she got such riches from. He then ran to the river and demanded gold for himself. However, the King of the Water Sprites prepared a surprise for him…
